I’ve heard about Tierra Alta early this year, since I’m a big fan of Percy Jackson and Greek gods, I’ve been dying to visit the place due to the Greece vibe of it’s architecture, unfortunately the last time we were in Dumaguete we weren’t able to go here due to limited time.
And now finally, I was able to get here. Thanks to my friend who needs to cut his trip short, due to that I tagged along with my other friend who’s also in Dumaguete that time (special thanks to Ione and her friends).
So what is Tierra Alta? Tierra Alta is actually a residential resort subdivision, but what makes it visit worthy is their Santorini inspired clubhouse, which is perched on top of the hill. If you have the money and love the things I will discuss below, you might want buy a lot in this subdivision and build your dream house here. Lots of residential lots are up for grab.

WHAT TO DO IN TIERRA ALTA?
There are several things to do in here.
- Eat – Yes, that is right. Their clubhouse have a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks (sorry was not able to get photos), but I can guarantee that they are delicious and I must say for an affordable price you can get a big serving which can be shared by two people.
- Sleep – If you are visiting Dumaguete and looking for a place to stay away from the city, this could be an option as their clubhouse have several rooms that you can book.
- Enjoy the outdoor view – this is the main reason why I wanted to visit the place. Because of how their clubhouse is designed. It feels like you’re somewhat in a different place, from a Santorini inspired architecture, to the lighthouse and cool swimming pool that at times can look like an infinity pool depending on your point of view.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Tierra Alta is located in Palinpinon Road, Valencia Negros Oriental.
From Dumaguete City
via public transportation
*Go to the public market and take a tricycle ride to Tierra Alta.
*The driver will only drop you off at the gate. This means that you’d have to walk up a short ascent to the clubhouse. You may bargain for a fair price with the driver if you want to be dropped right at the clubhouse.
*Tricycle ride is at ₱12/head/way.
*Alternatively, there are jeepney that pass by Tierra Alta, too. Look for one that goes to VALENCIA.
via private car
*It’s around 20-minute driving. You may ask the locals along the way for directions.
Alternative options:
*You can also rent a motorbike in Dumaguete City. This is actually what I did as I was planning to explore the falls in Valencia. Motorbike rental ranges from ₱350 to ₱600, this can be haggled so better prepare your bargaining skills.
My visit was during Dumaguete’s charter day, and unfortunately most of the rental shops had there bikes fully rented, so I search on google and found 4J Rentals and Transport Services.
